This page shows the public heartbeat for this site. Hearbeat comes with the Heartbeat displays submodule exposing heartbeat fields. The custom field we created for to expose the picture has logic to either theme the picture through theme('user_picture') or through theme('imagecache') as you can see on the homepage.
